What is Metcon Moms?
First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie DeJohn and I am the CrossFit Coach for Metcon Moms. I have always been into fitness. I did every sport I could possibly do in high school and college. I loved to run, so I started to do marathons in my 20's. I ran a marathon every year until I became pregnant with my twins. I soon became pregnant again with my third child. Research at the time was very minimal about how much you could exercise while you were pregnant. I was very cautious in the exercise realm during my pregnancy.
The results of my dormancy paid me a visit after the delivery of my third baby. I was exhausted and could hardly get up a flight of stairs before I became exhausted...Let alone, sleep deprivation. After 3 months, I decided it was time to kick back into high gear and get myself back into my pre-pregnancy shape. It was a long hard road, but I completed my first marathon 6 months later. I was bitten by the running bug again and I was excited.
My times stayed the same and I had gotten to a plateau. That is when I came across CrossFit. For those of you who do not know what CrossFit is, the best way to describe it is a high intensity workout that kicks your butt for 10 minutes and the workout is always different. I was hooked. I started to see results. My running times started to improve and I could run harder with less effort. I decided that I loved it so much I wanted to help train other people so I became a Certified Trainer in CrossFit. CrossFit led to me expanding my exercise horizons. I began to do Extreme trail runs and courses I would have never tried before. I started doing triathlons and loved it.
One thing I did notice about CrossFit was that it tended to scare a lot of women away. It's intense and scary if you have never encountered a gym that is in the middle of a workout. I knew myself that lifting heavy weights would not be a lot of women's thing. So, I started thinking about what a woman wants and what workout would give her the best results. Why not combine the best of both worlds of an intense cardio workout and scaled weight lifting. That is how the Metcon Moms program was developed. A fun, motivating environment that women will love coming to and see results in whatever she wants to accomplish in her everyday life.
Want to run a faster 5k? Want to run up a flight of stairs without becoming winded and tired? Want a kick butt body without all of the time spent at a regular gym? The Metcon Moms program is for you if you answered yes to any of the above. Come try it out. I know you will come to love it as much as I do. Hope to see you at the gym!!!
